Independence Day

As part of the 78th Independence Day celebrations, Carmel School, Peyad, organized a series of competitions to honour the nation’s history, culture, and achievements. These events were not only a celebration of our country’s independence but also an opportunity for our students to express their love and understanding of the nation in creative and intellectual ways.

The Independence Day festivities were designed to engage students from Pre-KG to Grade 12 in a variety of activities that fostered both patriotism and a spirit of healthy competition. The younger students, from Pre-KG to Grade 3, participated in a skit presentation that focused on the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. The skit was carefully prepared by the teachers, who used props, costumes, vibrant backgrounds, and sound effects to bring the stories of our national heroes to life. This activity not only familiarized the young students with the history of India’s struggle for freedom but also instilled in them a sense of respect and admiration for those who fought for our independence.

For students in Grade 4 and above, a series of house-wise competitions were held, involving all four houses: Aarav, Prakriti, Agni, and Ishan. The competitions included:

- *Coloring Competition for Grade 4:* Students were given the task of colouring images related to India’s freedom struggle, allowing them to express their creativity while learning about the nation’s history.

- *Quiz Competition for Grades 5 & 6:* Organized by senior students, this quiz tested Grade 5 students on India’s greatest freedom fighters, while Grade 6 students were quizzed on national symbols. This activity encouraged students to delve deeper into their knowledge of India and its heritage.

- *Bulletin Board Preparation for Grades 6 & 7:* Each house created a bulletin board filled with quotes from freedom fighters and creative displays that highlighted India’s rich cultural heritage. These bulletin boards added to the festive atmosphere of the school, creating visually appealing and educational displays.

- *Quiz Competition for Grades 9 to 12:* Older students participated in a quiz focused on the independence movement and general knowledge about India. The competition was intense and educational, pushing students to reflect on the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes.

The entire day was filled with excitement and joy as students participated with enthusiasm in each competition. The events were not only a celebration of India’s independence but also a valuable opportunity for students to develop teamwork, critical thinking, and creative expression.

The success of these competitions is a testament to the hard work and dedication of both students and teachers, and it is hoped that the values of patriotism and national pride instilled through these activities will remain with the students long after the celebrations are over.
